The CASIO QV-TWAIN Module makes it possible for you to directly read image data directly from a QV Series Digital Camera to any application that has 16-bit TWAIN capabilities. Although a relatively inexpensive point and shoot camera, apparently very few Ansco branded models of this camera were sold in the U.S. as the one we purchased was the first we have personally seen on eBay in the past eight years. CAMERA PHONE- 1997. The first complete camera phone was built by Philippe Kahn in 1997. The first commercial camera phone complete with infrastructure was the J-SH04, made by Sharp Corporation with the Sha-Mail (Picture-Mail in Japanese) infrastructure and marketed by J-Phone in Japan , designed in collaboration with Philippe Kahn. The first sales were in 1999 in Japan . Kahn integrated a miniature camera into a Motorola cell phone and, as his wife Sonia Lee Kahn was in labor, broadcast pictures of the newborn baby around the world. The camera phone became the founding vision for LightSurf Technologies. In Japan the first camera phones were developed for working professionals who wanted to keep an image of their children with them wherever they went and as they worked. CANON OPTURA MV1 HYBRID VIDEO AND STILL CAMERA - 1997.The MV1 had a 14x optical zoom lens and a 35x digital zoom with optical image stabilizer. It had a progressive scan CCD, the first ever in a camcorder, 720 x 480 pixels, capable of scanning a frame image in 1/60th of a second with RGB primary color filter. The MV1 allowed users to select from three recording modes–a field movie mode, a frame movie mode, and a photo mode. Lens 5.2-78mm, f/1.8-3.2. Shutter 1/8 to 1/2000 second. CASIO QV-11 - 1997. 1/5-inch 480 x 240 pixel CCD. Fixed-focus f/2 lens with macro position. Shutter 1/8 to 1/4000 second. Back-lit color LCD view finder. 2MB flash memory stored 96 images. Video Out (NTSC). Auto white balance. For reasons not clear, the front of these cameras say QV-11, but the model designation on the bottom says QV-11B, possibly relating to the country where the cameras were marketed. Price, $299.
